Ospreys’ Efforts are boosted by Young Players: Alun Wyn Jones

Ospreys captain Alun Wyn Jones says his team has made unbeaten start of the season because of the form of the region’s young players. Unbeaten Ospreys with four wins are at the top of the Pro12 table. Jones says prop Nicky Smith and back row Dan Baker are now important part of the squad. He said: “They have taken the responsibility that is in the jersey. These boys were working together at the end of the last season. It is fun to go on with them. Adam Jones, Richard Hibbard, Ian Evans, Ryan Jones and Matthew Morgan left in the summer.

Jones says Ospreys will miss those players but young players deserve more credit. He said: “It was said a lot about who are not with us and not about who are with us. The guys who left got a lot in Ospreys kit and the young boys coming have felt that. Ospreys defeated Munster 19-14 last weekend. Contrary to Ospreys’ form, Newport Gwent Dragons, Blues and Scarlets each succeeded in just one game in this season. Jones believes this difference is due to the fresh atmosphere in the squad.
