England started their Euro 2016 qualifying round perfectly as they defeated Switzerland because of Danny Welbeck’s two second half goals. Manager Roy Hodgson wanted his side to show good performance to compensate the exit from Brazil World Cup. England goal keeper Joe Hart saved two goals and Gary Cahill made a goal line clearance. Raheem Sterling assisted Welbeck to score first goal and was also involved as Rickie Lambert set up the striker’s second in stoppage time.
England’s defence was still vulnerable but match with Switzerland was the toughest in the group with San Marino, Estonia, Lithuania and Slovenia yet to come. Wayne Rooney also had good performance showing his willingness to take responsibility. Jones was not up to the mark throughout and when he could not defend in face of Xherdan Shaqiri and Seferovic, Hart was there to stop. Welbeck was in full action when he got Sterling’s perfect cross after Rooney had defeated Swiss defence. Hodgson was happy as England was on the right track to recover after Brazil.
